Location, Location, Location: Where to Put Your Wedding DJ
As you get closer to your wedding day, you’ll want to plan the layout of your venue. Here are some tips on where to place the DJ for maximum entertainment.
As you get closer to your wedding day, you’ll want to scope out your venue and begin to plan where everything should be. In order to create good “flow,” you’ll want to make sure that your DJ, your dance floor, and your bar are situated correctly. Here are a couple of quick tips:
  • Put the DJ as close to the dance floor as possible.
A good wedding entertainer will be interacting with the guests, and if he’s not close by, it will be very difficult for him to do that. Also, he’s going to want to see how your guests are responding and take cues from them.

  • If you have the choice, try to put the dance floor fairly close to, but not on top of, the bar.
The reason for this is that if you have them separated too much, people will go off to the bar and won’t tend to get back to the dance floor very quickly. Little by little, your party could start moving toward and staying at the bar. If the dance floor is too close, however, it will become complicated for people to get to the bar for their drinks and walk back to their tables.
Ask the venue operator where bridal couples typically place everyone, and make sure to get your wedding DJ’s input, as well!
