Bridal Shows: Pros and Cons

• Remember that what you see at the bridal show is not what it will be like at the wedding.
  For example, a wedding entertainment company may have a dozen employees at the show, getting people to take part in dancing, in silly contests and other activities. This looks very impressive to the brides, but on the day of your wedding, you’ll just get one or two wedding DJs, not the whole crew.
  
 
• Keep in mind that while the bigger companies which cater to brides will be there, the smaller companies won’t be.
  You don’t necessarily want to go with the florist or wedding cake decorator with the biggest advertising budget. Many times, word-of-mouth recommendations are going to be a better bet than simply choosing the vendor with the biggest display at a bridal show.
  
 
• Be careful giving out your information.
  Every vendor there is there for one reason: to make more money. They will all want to collect your name, email, telephone number and other information so that they can contact you later and try to buy your business. Only give out your contact information to those that you are really interested in. Or better yet, make it a policy to refrain from giving out any information, and simply take their cards and brochures instead. You can always call them!
